Here he is at the recently relocated campus arch...
followed by a stop at the fountain located in the student center plaza just in front of the library. It was a hot day, and it was all I could do to keep these 3 little monkeys from taking a dip!
Next we stopped in the gardens. It smelled heavenly! I always loved riding my bike through there at night, when there would be a million rabbits hopping around.
Here, Monkey tries on for size the infamous field upon which many a Greek Week victory was gained or lost during Greek Games. Ah, memories...
Where to next, Monkey? The MAC Center? Sounds great!
This is the infamous green where the protests were intiated. The ROTC building was located at one end of this but I can never get it straight exactly where. In the distance you can see the victory bell that was used to call the protesters together during that weekend.
At the memorial.
The parking spaces where the 4 kids fell are blocked off by light poles like this one. People leave rocks and candles as rememberances, and one groovy visitor left peace necklaces like these at all 4 sites. This particular site is the one where Jeff Miller fell. Jeff was the young man in the famous shot of Mary Vecchio kneeling and screaming over his body.
A wider shot of Jeff's site.
Monkey wisely felt it would be disrespectful to perch on top of the marker.
Moving on, here is what happens to you with all the knowledge you gain at Kent State! Is it just me, or is this thing heinous? Thank God it wasn't there for me to walk past in MY coed days!

There will be more pictures later....I was doing this after work on my school computer and it went all wacky....I have more. Monkey is off to W. Va. tonight!
How cool is that! Man that is one lucky monkey getting to check out all of the historical places along the way.
I can see where you would have a tough time with "three" monkey's!
This is wonderful. When I see things like this it reaffirms why I sent the Monkey out there. Thank You!
wonderful post!!! perfect trip!
Love Monkey's new socks! :) Although, being a semi-native Ohioan, I beg to differ about the best school in Ohio and wish that someone would've been able to take him a bit further south to visit a little town called Oxford and a lovely little haven known as Miami U. :)
Elle, my kids' favorite babysitter in the whole world is a freshman Miami girl. She sent us a Miami care package and we all have gear. I wore my pink Miami T with pride. I admire the sheer preppiness of that place....the only preppy haven at the still-psychedelic KSU was the greek system! :)
