Monkey is going to the beach!

I went to ship monkey to his next destination yesterday, but ended up coming back home with him. UPS said he wouldn't arrive in Greensboro until Monday, Dec 1st. Monkey should NOT spend his first Thanksgiving in a box in UPS storage! I asked when he would arrive if I shipped him on Friday from Myrtle Beach and they said the same date, Monday 1st.

So, he's coming to the beach with us! Woo Woo. Emma is so excited! He'll have a blast with the Minyon clan!

He is packed up in the car, ready to go. 6 hours on the road, but we'll make it. We'll post with vacation pics as soon as. I apologize I've not added more pics from his time in Richmond, but trying to pack up everything for a 9 month old is crazy!

Monkey's gonna love his first Thanksgiving, I'm sure of it!

Monkey Chills

It was a pretty quiet weekend for Monkey and Emma. Monkey said he just wanted to chill out for a while, before seeing some Richmond sights. He's been teaching Emma some manners (sharing) and just getting back in to the groove, before heading out to his next destination.

Getting to know one another...

...before sharing some snacks!

Chillin' out, reading some Monkey literature!

A quick snap of the three of us!

Now that he's all relaxed, we'll head out for some fun pics. Check back soon for an update. Oh and we promise not to hog him for much longer. He has many more places to see and some fabulous people to meet!

We're so happy he's back!

WOO WOO

GUESS WHO'S HERE?!! Yep, the Monkster arrived just a matter of seconds ago! I told the UPS man that monkey is traveling around the US and he looked at me like I was crazy. Certainly wasn't going to ask him to take a picture with the little dude. Shame really, it would have been cute!

Monkey immediately made a few other friends though!

Let the fun begin...

Renewed Itinerary

When we last left our fearless hero, he was en route to Richmond, VA. Here's a list of the next stops. I'll be in touch with everyone via email when he's on the way to you specifically. The order of things might change or people may opt out of the trip - I've found this is a very organic process.

But fret not, I'll definitely keep you all posted. Thanks so much for your patience and continued support!

The list so far...

Good Morning!

I've done a quick review of my email, and this is what I have so far...

Stuart, Florida

Savannah, Georgia (x2, but I'm waiting for blogger ID info from one of the hostesses)

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Olathe, Kansas

Portland, Oregon

Las Vegas, Nevada

I see a couple more, JenWebb702 and Deb are original hostesses that still want to host, but I need your contact info. Email it it me at dumelan@yahoo.com. Lisagh gave her blessing, but asked that I be the one coordinating it, since it is in fact my monkey this time around. So you'll need to contact me. If you are a new hostess, I WILL NEED YOUR BLOGGER INFO! Lisagh will not be able to invite you to contribute to the Monkey blog otherwise!

The last day I will be accepting new names is Friday, November 14th.

The Requests are coming in!

Hello all. I've already gotten several emails. Just to let you guys know, if you were an original hostess, let me know, since I won't have to provide additional info to Lisagh so you can post the adventures on the Monkey Me, Monkey You blog. If you were in fact NOT an original hostess the first time around, you will need to provide me with a blogger ID so I can pass that info on to Lisagh, and she can invite you can post on the Monkey blog. I'd also like to potentially give y'all till this FRIDAY to get your request in. I'm hoping to work an itinerary out, and send Carolina off to jump start the Monkey tour. Monkey Napper has stolen too much fun as it is, and get it going again as soon as possible. So when you email me, please include your contact info, your blogger id, and let me know whether or not you were on the original hostess list. Hopefully I can work out all the kinks, and perhaps send Carolina out sometime next week!!

I'm actually starting to feel a little guilty, kind of like I'm hijacking this blog, and I want to let you all know, that is not my intention in the least. So, Lisagh, thank you for telling me that this was okay to do. When I read the comment about Indycitygirl saying that her daughter was one of the kids in tears over Monkey's disappearance, it just cemented my resolve to send Carolina to stand in for Monkey. And his return, (Monkey Napper, I'm talking to YOU) would be even better.

Best wishes and get those requests in, hostesses.

Melanie :)

Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It...

Hello Monkey hostesses! After an email conversation with Lisagh, in which she gave her blessing, I've decided to offer up Monkey's cousin, Carolina, to finish his journey for him. I'm not sure anyone would even be interested, but I have to admit, being a mother myself, the thought of the disappointed kids really bothered me. I know I'm kind of setting myself up for the same disappointment that Lisagh did, and the potential loss of my monkey. However, based on the comments over the last couple of months, you all seem like such nice people with so much enthusiasm about this little project of Lisagh's.

If you are one of the hostesses that is still waiting, and would like to host Carolina, please email me at dumelan @ yahoo (dot) com. (Trying to avoid major spam, I'm sure you gals can relate!) If I get enough affirmatives, I'll ask you for your contact info, and set up some ground rules. Like linking to the tracking number via UPS (or Fedex, whichever you prefer) so everyone involved can track Carolina's progress. I remember that from one of the comments and thought it was a great idea. The other rules, like letting everyone know that the monkey has arrived, at least one blog with pictures, three days maximum visit per hostess...all would apply. If this isn't something you feel you can comply with, then please don't volunteer. If this gets started again, I'd really hate to have it come to the same conclusion that Monkey's did.

Okay, let's see what happens...

Melanie :)

but we have no postcard from our Monkey...

This song came on my iPod today and made me think of our missing Monkey. To the woman who has Monkey - please send him along. If you need one of us to come get him, we will. We just want him back! Let us know how we can make this happen.

I loved showing Monkey all around my adopted city and I am sad that so many women and children (please, someone think of the children!) won't get the opportunity. Please just give us our Monkey back.

Lier Lier Pants on Fire!

Does she think we are s-t-u-p-i-d?!

As many predicted... no monkey!

Seriously it was bad enough that she ignored our requests to release Monkey but to BLATANTLY lie to our faces and tell us she shipped him back to Annapolis??

What is so freakin' hard to tape up a box and take him to the post office?

Unacceptable behavior.

Unacceptable.

Sorry to rant ladies but now I am just mad. Mad.

More Sock Monkey Apparel, Etc.

How about these footie pjs? I almost fell over laughing when I saw them!
Nick & Nora for Target have a complete line of Sock Monkey pjs, loungewear, nightgowns, robes, etc. so check 'em out! Here are a couple of the prints I saw in the store yesterday in addition to the Ginger Monkey pjs (there is an entire line of this print - robes, nightie, etc.) shown above:

Since Monkey still hasn't arrived...this seems to be the only way to get a sock monkey fix these days.
